If you would like to play bowls at The City of London Bowling Club, either individually or as a group you can telephone the Corporation of London (Tel 02076284034) and pre-book/hire a rink(s). It presently costs £3.50 per person per hour and all equipment shall be provided. If you are interested in joining the City of London Bowling Club as either a playing or non playing member please contact the website and details shall be provided. We will happily answer any questions that you may have, or can arrange for you to have a guided tour of the club. Or if you wish to take up the sport for the first time, free coaching can be arranged. Club Night is every Tuesday evening throughout the year.
Lawn Bowls is a cheap sport to take up, its a game you can play all of your life, from a very young age until you are mature in years. Health and balance permitting. It is not a sport you have to give up at a certain age, like football or athletics. Its a game you can play competitively or socially, if you are disabled or partially sighted. A game that has Singles play like you may find in Snooker or Tennis, but also has TEAM play; Pairs-Triples-Fours play. If all 6 rinks of a Bowling Green have Fours play, you can have team play consisting of 24 players v 24 players. So you get the commaraderie of team sports like cricket.
A game you can play all of your life - whatever your age or sex - whether you are disabled or not -and that has Singles and / or Team play. Social or competitive. What other sports can offer that? Membership fees at The City of London Bowling Club are low in comparison to other clubs in the area.
The City of London Bowling Club is happy to receive applications for matches from any Bowling Associations / Clubs or Touring Teams.
There is also a one day "City of London Bowling Club Invitational Pairs Tournament" usually held on a Saturday around 18th July annually. A chance for non members to compete and get their name on the club honours board. If you wish to register an interest in this tournament, please contact the website.
Club Finals are held in early September each year - we urge you to come along and support and absorb the atmosphere. The annual presentation dinner normally takes place in early November.
